James Keane joined the SNHU volleyball staff as an assistant coach in April 2024.
Keane made the short trek across Manchester, as he most recently served as an assistant coach at Saint Anselm College for seven seasons, including the first six under current SNHU head coach Braden Zamore.
While at Saint Anselm, the Hawks posted an overall record of 109-68 (.616), including 47-30 (.610) in NE10 play. Saint Anselm finished above .500 in all six full seasons (the Hawks only played two matches during the 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and posted 19-or more wins three times. The Hawks finished sixth or better in the NE10 standings in five of those campaigns, making the NE10 Championship in each of those seasons and advancing to the semifinal round three times. Saint Anselm also reached the NCAA Championship on four occasions, including an East Regional semifinal berth in 2019.

Prior to joining the Hawks, Keane was the technical director and 18s travel coach of American Volleyball Club in Bristow, Va. Keane was involved from the start of the club in 2011 with his team reaching the USA Volleyball Junior National Tournament in the club’s third year in existence. Keane also was involved from 2003-2010 with Husky Volleyball Club in Windsor, Conn. In addition to coaching one of their top travel teams, Keane was an Assistant Club Director, working with their High Performance and boys programs. In his 12 years of coaching juniors volleyball, Keane’s teams have qualified for USA Volleyball Junior Nationals four times.Â
A native of Bay Shore, N.Y., Keane played Division I volleyball at Sacred Heart University and he has collegiate coaching experience at Division I, II and III schools. Keane is an active member of USA Volleyball and he is certified in IMPACT, VCAP, and has attained his CAP II certification (CAP III pending). He is also involved with USA Volleyball’s High Performance teams as a tryout evaluator and court coach.
