BOX SCORE
LOWELL, Mass. - Laurie Boland (Worcester,
MA) scored a pair of goals as Southern New Hampshire University
scored three times in the second half to post a 3-0 Northeast-10
women's soccer victory over UMass Lowell at Cushing Field Tuesday
evening. The win snaps a two-game slide for the Penmen as they
improve to 5-6-1 overall and 3-4 in NE-10 action, while the River
Hawks are now 6-5 and 2-5 in the league.
After a scoreless first half, the
Penmen got on the board just over six minutes into the second half.
Lori Robinson (Bow, NH) crossed a pass into
Nicole Ebner (Rochester, NY), who one-timed it to
give SNHU a 1-0 advantage. Boland would notch her first goal at the
73:35 mark when she collected a River Hawk turnover in the box and
fired it home to make it 2-0. She would notch her second goal just
under 10 minutes later when an initial attempt by Michelle
Moore (Duxbury, MA) went off the cross bar. Boland headed
home the rebound for the tally, with Robinson also assisting on the
play.
Stef Young
(Natick, MA) made five saves en route to the shutout for SNHU as
the guests held an 11-9 shot advantage.
SNHU returns to action Saturday
