MANCHESTER, N.H. -
Visiting Bentley College snapped Southern New Hampshire
University's three-match win streak with a 5-4 Northeast-10 women's
tennis victory Thursday afternoon at the SNHU courts. The
Falcons improved to 11-5 overall and 9-2 in the NE-10 with the
victory, while the Penmen wrap up the regular season 7-5 overall
and in the NE-10.
Freshman Catalina
Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) upped her singles record to 7-1
on the season with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1. Senior
Melissa Ramos (Stoughton, MA) improved her singles
record to 8-3 on the year with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 5. In
doubles, Echeverry and Lauren Nigrelli (Westerly,
RI) were 8-4 winners at No. 1, while Ramos and Amanda
Nason (Center Sandwich, NH) rallied from a 5-0 deficit to
post an 8-6 win at No. 3 to keep their perfect record in doubles
play (11-0) alive.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action next Wednesday when it competes in the Northeast-10
Tournament quarterfinals. The Penmen will enter the
tournament as the No. 6 seed, but own a 6-2 record in the spring
season.
