COLCHESTER, Vt. -
Second-seeded Saint Michael's College advanced to the Northeast-10
Conference women's tennis championship match with a 5-4 win over
No. 6 seed Southern New Hampshire University Friday
afternoon. The Purple Knights improve to 15-5, while the
Penmen, who were making their first-ever appearance in the NE-10
semifinals, finish the season 8-6 overall.
Earning singles victories for the
Penmen were Catalina Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) at
No. 1, Kristen Franco (Bedford, NH) at No. 3 and
Juliet Verhofstad (Plymouth, NH) at No. 5.
In doubles action, Melissa Ramos (Stoughton, MA)
and Amanda Nason (Center Sandwich, NH) finished
their senior season 13-0 in doubles play with a 8-1 win at No. 3.
