COLCHESTER, Vt. -
The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team opened
Northeast-10 play with a 6-3 win over Saint Michael's College
Sunday afternoon. The Penmen are now 1-0 (1-0 NE-10) on the
season, while the Purple Knights are 3-1 and 2-1 in the league.
SNHU won the top three singles
matches and swept all three doubles matches. Amber
Chandronnait (Bow, NH) was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 1
while Catalina Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) was a
6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 2. Lauren Nigrelli
(Westerly, RI) was victorious at No. 3 by scores of 6-1, 7-5.
In doubles action, Chandronnait and
Nigrelli were 8-3 winners at No. 1 while Echeverry and
Alison Waring (Westboro, MA) were 8-2 winners at
No. 2. Courteney Blais (Paxton, MA) and
Meghan Welch (Mont Vernon, NH) teamed up for a 8-4
win at No. 3.
SNHU returns to action October 11
when it travels to Le Moyne College.
