WALTHAM, Mass. -
Second-seeded Bentley University advanced to the championship match
of the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Championship with a 5-3 win over
third-seeded Southern New Hampshire University Thursday
afternoon. The Falcons, who improved to 14-7 overall with the
victory, advance to meet top-seeded Stonehill Sunday. The
Penmen, who are ranked No. 5 in the East Region, are now 11-4 and
will await a possible NCAA tournament berth.
Amber Chandronnait
(Bow, NH) and Catalina Echeverry (Cali, Colombia)
earned all three Penmen points on the afternoon, as they posted an
8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Chandronnait was a 6-0, 6-1 winner
at No. 1 singles, while Echeverry posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
SNHU was making its second straight
appearance in the Northeast-10 semifinals after reaching the semis
for the first time last season.
