N.H.-The Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer
team battled UMass Lowell to a 0-0 double overtime tie Wednesday
evening at Larkin Field. With the tie, the Penmen are now
3-5-2 and 1-3-2 in the Northeast-10, while the River Hawks bring
their record to 5-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the NE-10.
UMass Lowell, who is currently
receiving votes in this week's adidas/NSCAA Division II national
poll, outshot the Penmen 16-8, including the only two shots in the
final overtime frame. Ariel Texiera (Warren,
R.I.) led the Penmen with two shots on goal, while Kristina
Cardoso (Stoughton, Mass.) and Kaleigh
Roberge (Manchester, N.H.) each recorded one apiece.
Goalkeeper Stef
Young (Natick, Mass.) stopped seven shots in net for the
Penmen to pick up her first shutout of the season. River
Hawks netminder Jamie Gillis registered four saves.
The Penmen return to action on
Saturday, September 26 as they host the University of New Haven in
a 1:00 p.m. home contest.
