RYE, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University
women's tennis team swept Merrimack College 9-0 Friday
afternoon at Wentworth by the Sea Country Club. The win, the
14th straight for the Penmen, improves their record to
15-1 overall and 12-0 in the NE-10, while the Warriors are now 5-11
and 5-6 in the league.
With the win, the Penmen clinch a
share of the Northeast-10 regular season title, the first in
program history. Southern New Hampshire also clinched the No.
1 seed in the upcoming NE-10 Tournament, as it defeated current
second-place team Stonehill (14-2, 11-1 NE-10) 6-3 on April
1. SNHU can claim the regular season crown outright with a
win Saturday against Franklin Pierce. That match takes place
at the Goffstown (NH) YMCA starting at 2:00.
