MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team defeated Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference play to close out its fall campaign Friday afternoon by a score of 9-0. SNHU improves to 5-1 overall and 5-0 in league play while Saint Anselm is 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Penmen were led by Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) who defeated Alexandra Lawrence by set scores of 6-1, and 6-1 in the No. 1 singles position. Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) would also prevail in singles play while beating Hawks' Kathryn Rindo with 6-0 set scores in the second spot, and Amanda Albuquerque (Weymouth, Mass.) and Kirsten Jean (Bedford, N.H.) would both beat their opponents with 6-0 scores in the third and fourth single positions, respectively.
In doubles play, the dynamic duo of Mukdaprakorn and Vamvakitis teamed up to defeat Lawrence and April Regan by a score of 8-1. Albuquerque and Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) combined forces to beat Rindo and Kate Martin with an 8-0 score, and in the third doubles position, Jamie Hann (Westhampton, N.Y.) and Jean had an 8-0 win over the Hawks.
The Penmen wrapped up their fall season with an undefeated league record and suffered just one loss to Goldey-Beacom. During the season, Mukdaprakorn became the all-time career doubles win leader with 68, and is tied in the second place spot in most career singles wins in women's tennis program history.
