Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University and Saint Anselm College battled to a 1-1 Northeast-10 women's soccer tie Tuesday night at Larkin Field. The Penmen, who extended their unbeaten streak to seven games (5-0-2), now stand 9-3-3 overall and 7-3-3 in the NE-10, while the Hawks are 3-7-4 and 2-6-4 in the league.
Saint Anselm took a 1-0 lead 7:28 into the game. Jenna Szostak played a through ball to Kaitlin Oldfield on the left side of the net. SNHU keeper Maggie Weldon (Manchester, N.H.) came out to play Oldfield, but Oldfield would get it past her from 12 yards for her seventh goal of the season. The guests carried a 1-0 lead into the half.
SNHU recorded the equalizer in the 68th minute on a corner kick. Kaleigh Roberge (Manchester, N.H.) played a short corner kick to Ashley Jaskula (Palmer, Mass.), who sent a ball to the far left post. Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) headed the ball off a Hawk defender and past Saint Anselm goalie Gabriella Primera for her first collegiate goal.
The Penmen nearly won the game with seconds left in regulation. Off a corner kick by Jaskula, Gabby Cappello (Andover, Mass.) headed a shot to the left post that appeared headed across the goal line, but was blocked at the last second by a Saint Anselm defender to keep the game deadlocked. Southern New Hampshire outshot the Hawks 7-0 in the two overtime periods.
Weldon recorded one save while Primera tallied 12 stops as the Penmen outshot the Hawks 28-4. Southern New Hampshire also had five of the game's six corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday afternoon when it hosts No. 15 American International College for Senior Day in a 1:00 game at Larkin Field.
