Box Score

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – An early goal by LIU-Post held up as the fourth-ranked Pioneers edged Southern New Hampshire University 1-0 in women's soccer Wednesday afternoon at Blitz Field.  LIU-Post improved to 14-1-2 overall, while the Penmen now stand 9-5-3 on the season.

The hosts scored the game's lone goal at the 5:47 mark.  Susanne Vistnes lifted a long shot from outside the box that SNHU keeper Maggie Weldon (Manchester, N.H.) got a hand on but found the upper left corner for Vistnes' 17th goal of the season.

Southern New Hampshire's best chance to tie the game came with 4:47 remaining when LIU-Post keeper Nicole Fierro made a diving stop on a shot attempt by Ashley Jaskula (Palmer, Mass.) as Fierro was able to knock the ball over the crossbar at the last second.

Fierro made 10 saves en route to the shutout.  Weldon played the first 16:21 in goal before being relieved by Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.), who made three saves.  Southern New Hampshire held a 16-7 shot advantage for the game.

The Penmen close out the regular season Saturday night when they travel to the University of New Haven for a 7:00 contest.
