MANCHESTER, N.H. – No. 45 Southern New Hampshire University posted a 6-3 victory over Chestnut Hill College in women's tennis Saturday afternoon. The Penmen, who snapped a two-match slide with the win, improve to 8-4, while the Griffins saw a three-match win streak snapped and are now 16-4.
Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) rallied at No. 3 singles to top Maria Parapouras, dropping the first set 6-2 before posting a 7-3 tiebreaker win in the second set. In the third set Vamvakitis prevailed 6-1. Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) was a 6-0, 6-4 winner at No. 1 singles, while Samantha Jean and Kirsten Jean (Bedford, N.H.) were victorious at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
In doubles action, Vamvakitis and Jamie Hann (Westhampton, N.Y.) were 8-6 winners at No. 2, while the Jean sisters recorded an 8-2 triumph at No. 3.
Southern New Hampshire continues Northeast-10 Conference play March 25 when it hosts The College of Saint Rose in a noon match.
