QUEENS VILLAGE, N.Y. – Adelphi University snapped Southern New Hampshire University's 37-match Northeast-10 women's tennis regular season win streak with a 5-4 victory Saturday evening at the Alley Pond Tennis Center. The Panthers upped their record to 11-2 and 6-0 in the NE-10, while the Penmen, who suffered their first loss in league regular season play since the 2008-09 season, now stand 10-5 and 7-1 in the NE-10.
SNHU's 37-match regular season conference win streak will go down as the third-longest in Northeast-10 annals. The loss also snaps a 42-match win streak against NE-10 foes in all matches including conference tournament and NCAA tournament action.
Adelphi jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles action, with Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) and Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) posting an 8-5 win for the Penmen at No. 1 doubles. Mukdaprakorn, Vamvakitis and Jamie Hann (Westhampton, N.Y.) were victorious for Southern New Hampshire in singles action.
