MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team captured a share of its third-straight Northeast-10 regular-season championship with an 8-1 win over Bentley University Saturday afternoon. The Penmen won their fifth in a row to improve to 15-5 and 12-1 in the NE-10, while the Falcons now stand 9-11 and 9-4 in the league.
SNHU, Stonehill College and Adelphi University all finished the NE-10 regular season with 12-1 records. After all Conference tie-breaking procedures were exhausted, and the teams still tied, seedings for the upcoming NE-10 Tournament were determined via random draw, with the Penmen receiving the third seed. SNHU will host sixth-seeded Merrimack College Wednesday afternoon in a 4:00 first-round match.
Southern New Hampshire, which will be looking for its third straight NE-10 Tournament title, is the first team to claim at least a share of three straight Northeast-10 regular-season titles since Pace University won four straight from 1997-2000.
The Penmen posted an 8-0 win over Merrimack in the two teams' regular-season meeting on April 7.
