Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Seniors Kaleigh Roberge (Manchester, N.H.) and Kasey Morrison (Hampton, N.H.) scored goals and classmate Maggie Weldon (Manchester, N.H.) picked up a shutout in goal as Southern New Hampshire University posted a 2-0 win over Holy Family University in non-conference women's soccer Friday afternoon at Larkin Field. The game marked the season opener for both schools.
The win was career win No. 100 for SNHU head coach Terry Prouty.
Southern New Hampshire outshot Holy Family 11-0 in the first half, but the game remained scoreless until the 58th minute. Ashley Jaskula (Palmer, Mass.) sent a crossing pass to the middle of the box, which Roberge knocked home low to the right post past Tiger keeper Rachel Dunkle. Roberge now sits one point shy of 50 for her career with 19 goals and 11 assists.
The Penmen made it 2-0 at the 63:44 mark when Morrison converted a penalty kick after she was hauled down in the penalty area.
Weldon was not forced to make a save en route to the shutout as the Penmen outshot the Tigers 29-1. Dunkle made nine saves for Holy Family. Southern New Hampshire also generated a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks on the afternoon.
Southern New Hampshire opens Northeast-10 play Monday evening when it hosts in-state rival Franklin Pierce University in a 7:00 match at Larkin Field.
