MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Michelle DeRoma (West Roxbury, Mass.) totaled a game-high 22 points to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a 70-58 Northeast-10 women's basketball victory against Saint Michael's College at the SNHU Fieldhouse Tuesday night.  The Penmen upped their record to 12-14 and 9-13 in the NE-10, while the Purple Knights are now 10-16 and 8-14 in the league.  The game marked the season finale for both schools.

DeRoma finished 8-11 from the floor, including a 5-7 effort from three-point land that pushed her into second place in career three pointers at SNHU with 154.  Classmate Sloane Sorrell (Berwick, Maine) closed out her brilliant career with her fourth straight double-double, registering 15 points and 13 rebounds while going 6-9 from the floor.  Sorrell ends her career second in career scoring and third in rebounding at SNHU.  Morgan Munson (Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia) drained a pair of three-pointers and finished with eight points, while Lorreta Rocha (Espargos, Cape Verde) added seven points.

Megan Olsen led Saint Michael's with 20 points on 8-17 shooting, while Alexa Long added 12 points.

The hosts led 32-30 at halftime and clung to a 40-39 advantage with 14:41 remaining when they used a 16-5 run capped by a layup by Meghan Ballard (Rutland, Vt.) to build a 56-44 lead with just under seven minutes remaining.  Southern New Hampshire took its largest lead, 61-46, with 4:32 left on a DeRoma layup.  Saint Michael's cut the lead to nine, 65-56, on a Nicole Adach three with 1:52 left and got within eight with 41 seconds to play, but would get no closer.

The opening frame saw four ties and 10 lead changes with neither side leading by more than four points in the period.  The Penmen took the lead for good, 29-27, on a DeRoma three with 1:39 left before halftime, and SNHU took a 32-30 lead into the locker room.

Southern New Hampshire shot 50% from the floor in the first half and 49% for the game and connected on eight of its 12 three-point attempts, going 4-6 in each half.  Saint Michael's was limited to just 32.3% shooting on the evening, including a 6-25 effort behind the arc, and took seven fewer trips to the free throw line, going 12-14 while the Penmen were 14-21.  The hosts also held a 38-34 rebounding advantage on the night.
