THE MATCHUP: Southern New Hampshire hosts No. 12 Saint Michael's College on Tuesday evening for a Northeast-10 Conference game at 7:00 p.m. on Larkin Field.
THE COACHES: Paul Calkins is in his 25th year as head coach. A former two-sport athlete at SNHU, he led the Penmen to a 7-4 record in his rookie season and followed up with an 8-3 campaign in 1990. The eight wins tied the school record for most victories in a season. Calkins lettered in lacrosse and hockey while a student at SNHU and totaled eight goals and 16 assists for the 1984 lacrosse team that finished 5-5. A former player and assistant coach at Saint Michael's College, Pat Ivory '08 was hired as the interim men's lacrosse head coach in January 2013...in his three seasons as an assistant at Saint Michael's, between 2009 and 2011, Ivory helped lead the Purple Knights to a 23-20 record, including a 10-6 campaign in 2011, during which the team reached the Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinals and was 8-2 in league play.
THE SERIES: Southern New Hampshire is 7-22 all-time against Saint Michael's, the Penmen lost on the road to the Purple Knights by a score of 14-7 last season.
THE PENMEN: SNHU is coming off of its second win in a row as they defeated Pace University by a score of 14-12 Saturday....Cameron Joyce and Rob Murray each lead the team with 16 points...Joyce has totaled 13 goals and three assists on the season while Murray has contributed 12 goals and four assists...Corey Allen has also added 12 points to the Penmen offense with 11 goals and one assist...Crosby Nicholson leads the SNHU goalies with 46 saves on the season along with 14 groundballs.
THE PURPLE KNIGHTS: Saint Michael's is coming of its first conference win of the season over Saint Rose...Marty Vanzo leads the Purple Knights offense with 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points...Pete Donnally is second on the team in points with 16, and Evan Antolino has added eight goals and two assists for 10 points...Chris DeMairo has earned four starts in net for Saint Michael's while totaling 37 saves.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Penmen return to action on Saturday, March 30 when they travel to No. 4 Adelphi University for a 1:00 p.m. league game.
