MANCHESTER, N.H. – A sweep in doubles play along with four out of six singles wins would be the difference as the Southern New Hampshire women's tennis team would defeat Saint Michael's College by a score of 7-2 Thursday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Penmen improve its record to 10-6 overall and stay unbeaten in the league with an 8-0 record, while the Purple Knights would suffer their first conference loss.
Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) would lead the Penmen to a win over the No. 8 regionally ranked Purple Knights while earning points at the No. 1 singles and doubles spot. Mukdaprakorn would team up with Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) to defeat Emily Magee and Jean-Marie McGrath in doubles action by a score of 8-2. The No. 2 and No. 3 teams would also defeat the Purple Knights by scores of 8-4 and 8-3, respectively.
Mukdaprakorn would match up with Magee in singles competition while defeating her by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Vamvakitis would also prevail over her opponent, Erica Bundrick by a score of 6-2, 6-3, while the No. 5 and No. 6 positions would also earn points for Southern New Hampshire.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, March 30 when they host Adelphi University for an 11:00 a.m. league match.
