MANCHESTER, N.H – The Southern New Hampshire women's tennis team continued its perfect Northeast-10 Conference record with a 9-0 win over Merrimack College Saturday afternoon. The win clinches at least a share of the team's fourth straight NE-10 regular season title. The Penmen improve to 14-6 on the season and 11-0 in the league, while the Warriors fall to 4-10 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
Seniors Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) and Amanda Albuquerque (Weymouth, Mass.) both played their last regular season home games on the SNHU Tennis Courts while both earning points in singles play and doubles. Mukdaprakorn prevailed in No. 1 singles after losing the first set and coming back to win the next two, and Albuquerque defeated her opponent by scores of 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
In doubles action, Mukdaprakorn teamed up with Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) to earn 8-1 win at first doubles, while Albuquerque and Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) won by a score of 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The Penmen return to action on Wednesday, April 10 when they travel to the University of Connecticut for a non-conference match. The time for the match is to be determined.
