Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Yuni Sher finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds as Pace University recorded a 59-43 Northeast-10 women's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire University at the SNHU Fieldhouse Tuesday night. The Setters improved to 3-12 and 2-7 in the league with the win, while the Penmen are now 5-10 and 3-7 in the NE-10.
Sher finished 6-10 from the floor and led three Setters in double figures. Shanice Allen was 7-11 and totaled 15 points, while Margo Hackett added 10 points and four assists for Pace.
Lorreta Rocha (Espargos, Cape Verde) led Southern New Hampshire with nine points and five rebounds, while Sara Ryan (Quincy, Mass.) and Chelsea Dunham (Johnson, Vt.) finished with seven points apiece. The seven points matched a career high for Dunham.
Pace led 27-22 at halftime and held a 31-27 lead with 16:20 to play following a Ryan basket when it embarked on a 16-5 run to build a 47-32 advantage with 10:53 remaining on a basket by Kristen Dodge. The Setters opened up their largest lead, 55-33, with just over eight minutes to play and led by double digits the rest of the way.
The first half saw five ties and five lead changes. Southern New Hampshire led 11-7 five minutes into the game following a Rocha basket, but trailing 16-15 with just under 11 minutes to go in the first frame, Pace scored eight straight points to build a 23-16 lead with 6:23 left on a Sher basket. The Penmen clawed their way back within three, 25-22, with 1:18 left on a Brooke Springfield (Jaffrey, N.H.) layup, and went into halftime down 27-22.
Pace shot 43.1% for the contest and limited the hosts to 26.4% shooting for the game while also outrebounding Southern New Hampshire 40-38.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday when it travels to The College of Saint Rose for a 1:30 Northeast-10 contest. The next Penmen home game is slated for Saturday, January 25, when SNHU welcomes Le Moyne College for a 1:30 tipoff at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
