Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team suffered a 7-0 setback against No. 7 Adelphi University in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey contest at Larkin Field on Tuesday night. The Penmen fall to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the Northeast-10, while the Panthers improve to 9-2 and 4-0 in league play.
Freshman Jill Piacitelli (East Greenwich, R.I.) registered 12 saves in goal for Southern New Hampshire after she relieved junior Cassandra Nickerson (Newton, N.H.), who recorded five saves in the game's first 13 minutes.
Junior Mary Plotas (Brookville, Md.) led the Adelphi offense with four goals, all of which came in the first half. Classmate Molly Cuevas (San Jose, Calif.) chipped in with a goal and three assists and fellow junior Kelly Serrao (Lake Hiawatha, N.J.) earned the victory in goal after a posting a shutout in the first half.
The Penmen were outshot by a 30-11 margin and finished the game at a 6-4 disadvantage in penalty corners.
Southern New Hampshire is back in action on Saturday when it makes the cross-town trip to Saint Anselm College for a Northeast-10 and Queen City Cup showdown at noon. The Panthers next game will also be on Saturday, as they host Stonehill College in a Northeast-10 clash at 1 p.m.
