Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team dropped a 5-0 road decision to Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday. The Penmen fall to 1-11 and 0-5 in conference play, while the Hawks improve to 6-4 and 2-3 in the Northeast-10.
With the win, Saint Anselm picks up two points in the Queen City Cup, a competition between SNHU and Saint Anselm in 16 different sports. The Penmen now hold a 10-4 advantage thus far.
Junior goalkeeper Cassandra Nickerson (Newton, N.H.) recorded six first-half saves for Southern New Hampshire in the setback before freshman Jill Piacitelli (East Greenwich, R.I.) registered 10 saves in the second half.
Freshman Jackie Guillemette (North Waterboro, Maine) led the Hawk offense with two goals and an assist, while classmate Allia Connolly (Westford, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals in the win. Saint Anselm staked itself to a 2-0 lead at halftime as junior Richelle Davis (Enfield, Conn.) and Guillemette each scored single goals. Connolly scored twice early in the second before Guillemette capped the scoring midway through the half.
Southern New Hampshire will resume Northeast-10 play on Wednesday when it plays host to American International College at 4 p.m. Saint Anselm also returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Merrimack for a Northeast-10 matchup with the Warriors at 4:30 p.m.
