RINDGE, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey contest on the road to Franklin Pierce University by a final score of 6-1 on Saturday. The Penmen move to 1-13 and 0-7 in league play, while the Ravens improve to 7-7 and 4-3 in the Northeast-10.

Freshman Jill Piacitelli (East Greenwich, R.I.) turned aside five shots in the Southern New Hampshire goal during the game's first 67:49 before classmate Alexis Soucy (Windsor, Maine) picked up a pair of saves in 2:11 of action.

Franklin Pierce jumped out to a 4-0 lead at halftime as four different Ravens found the back of the cage. Senior Courtney Kelly (Plymouth, N.H.) led the offense during the opening frame with a goal and assist. The game remained scoreless 25 minutes into the second half before Franklin Pierce freshman Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.) tallied a pair of goals 63 seconds apart to push the score to 6-0.

The Penmen jumped on the board with just over a minute left in the second half. Southern New Hampshire generated an odd-man rush into the attacking end before freshman Amaris Taylor (Tulsa, Okla.) took a feed from junior Kaitlyn Ramsey (Warren, Mass.) and connected on her team-leading third goal of the season. 

The Penmen return to action on Tuesday when they make the trek to LIU Post for a 4 p.m. face-off with the Pioneers. Franklin Pierce will also make its next appearance on Tuesday when Saint Michael's College heads to Sodexo Field at 4 p.m. for a Northeast-10 contest.
