Notes: SNHU has hosted the NCAA East Regional in each of the past two seasons…the Penmen were picked No. 2 in the Northeast-10 Northeast Division, and are ranked No. 27 nationally in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper preseason poll…Southern New Hampshire opens the season Thursday when it kicks off five games in Myrtle Beach, S.C….senior outfielder Brendan O'Brien was a Northeast-10 Third Team selection last season after batting .286 in the leadoff spot…he also set a single-season program record with 40 stolen bases, going 40-43…he enters 2014 10th in career hits with 148…Derrick Sylvester finished sixth nationally in ERA (1.34) a season ago…the Penmen have gotten off to strong starts each of the past two seasons, opening up 13-0 in 2012 and 10-3 in 2013…SNHU will take three trips south this spring, to Myrtle Beach, Lantana, Florida, and to Cary, N.C….the games in Cary will be played at the USA Baseball National Training Complex, the home of the Division II College World Series.
