HUMACAO, P.R. – Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis coach Greg Coache earned his 100th career victory as the Penmen downed Augustana (Ill.) College 8-1 Sunday morning in non-conference action. The Penmen improved to 7-1, while the Vikings suffered their first loss of the season and are now 15-1.
Coache, who also coaches the Penmen men's program, is 100-32 (.758) over his first six-plus seasons as head coach of the women's program.
Sunday's match featured singles first with the Penmen taking five of six singles contests. Sarah Schollgen (Meerbusch, Germany) was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles, while Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) was a 6-2, 6-3 victor at No. 2. The Penmen swept doubles competition, with Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) and Allison Valentine (New Hartford, Conn.) pulling out a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday when it faces Division I Presbyterian.
