VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University used a sweep of doubles competition to down American International College 6-3 in Northeast-10 women's tennis Sunday afternoon. The Penmen won their second straight to move to 10-5 and 6-2 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets are 1-5 overall and in the league.
The Penmen took both doubles matches as AIC only had five players and thus was forced to forfeit No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) and Sarah Schöllgen (Meerbusch, Germany) were 8-4 winners at No. 1, while Jamie Hann (Westhampton, N.Y.) and Kirsten Jean (Bedford, N.H.) posted an 8-2 win at No. 2.
In singles play, Vamvakitis was a scratch for the second straight match, moving SNHU's lineup up. Jean was a 8-2 winner at No. 3 singles, while Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) recorded a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 5.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday when it hosts The College of Saint Rose in a 3:00 match.
