Southern New Hampshire University fell on the road to Southern Connecticut State University, 1-0, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Jess Dow Field on Friday evening. The Owls improve to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in the NE-10, while the Penmen move to 2-8 and 0-5 in the league.
Lauren Anderson notched her first career goal 4:51 into the first half, as she sent a shot to the top right corner to provide Southern Connecticut all the offense it would need.
Senior Cassandra Nickerson (Newton, N.H.) stopped four shots in the Penmen cage and her counterpart, Audrey Dolloff, registered nine saves for the Owls. Southern New Hampshire outshout Southern Connecticut 18-15 in the game and held a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Notes:
- Freshman Maddie Holt (Seabrook, N.H.) led the Penmen with five shots and two shots on goal.
- The Owls maintained a 5-4 edge in penalty corners and outshot Southern New Hampshire 10-7 in the second half.
