MANCHESTER, N.H. – A total of 10 Southern New Hampshire University men's and women's basketball home games will be seen live, both regionally and nationally, as SNHU has once again reached an agreement with NESN, New England's most watched sports network, to carry Penmen games on NESNplus. Eight of the 10 games will also be available outside New England via NESN National.
“Year one of SNHU athletics airing basketball games on NESN in 2014-15 was a tremendous success,” said Southern New Hampshire Associate Director of Athletics, Tom Wilkins. “We are thrilled to announce we are extending our partnership to air even more games this season. Fans, friends, alumni and members of the Penmen family will have the opportunity to see high-quality basketball with great regional matchups that are steeped in rich tradition. The relationship between SNHU and the NESN networks puts us alongside the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and several prominent Division I programs, while reaching into over nine million homes. Coming off an NCAA Elite Eight appearance on the men's side and with an exciting 4-0 start on the women's side, fans have a lot to look forward to when tuning into Penmen basketball on NESN.”
The schedule begins Dec. 2 with a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader against Assumption College, as the women tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30. Four other NE-10 doubleheaders are set to be broadcast, including Jan. 26 against Le Moyne College, Feb. 6 against Saint Michael's College, Feb. 10 against Bentley University and Feb. 23 against intracity-rival Saint Anselm College. All games will be produced by Pack Network, SNHU's partner in offering live video webcasts in 13 different sports.
Dan Hannigan will call all the action with Jacob VanRyn delivering color commentary. Samantha Russo will be serving as the sideline reporter. Hannigan has 20 years of experience as the University of Maine men's ice hockey radio voice. Hannigan has earned Maine Sportscaster of the Year honors on multiple occasions and was at the microphone for Maine's 1999 national championship win as he called the game-winning goal for Maine radio. VanRyn is a seasoned New England broadcast professional and will lend insight into the Northeast-10 during broadcast as he currently serves as the league's Associate Commissioner for Strategic Communications. Russo, 2013 Miss New Hampshire, is the executive producer of New Hampshire Today with Jack Heath – one of the Granite State's most-listened-to morning talk radio shows. VanRyn and Russo also serve as the talent team for Penmen basketball games on WGIR 610-AM.
NESNplus is seen in over 4 million homes on nearly every television provider in the six-state New England region. In addition to carrying select Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox games, NESNplus also carries a variety of college football, hockey and basketball games from major conferences across the country.
NESN National is the national television service of NESN that provides fans outside New England the best opportunity to follow the Red Sox, Bruins and other New England sports, particularly those who also watch Red Sox and Bruins games through MLB and NHL league packages. NESN National delivers NESN's Red Sox and Bruins pre and post-game shows, NESN Sports Today, New England college sports and Liverpool FC delayed broadcasts. NESN National is available in over 100 television markets via AT&T Uverse, Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable and Verizon Fios. NESN programming is also available nationally via DirecTV and Dish Network.
