MANCHESTER, N.H. – No. 34 Chestnut Hill College swept doubles and took five of six singles matches en route to an 8-1 win over Southern New Hampshire University in non-conference women's tennis Friday afternoon. The Griffins are now 12-7, while the Penmen fall to 12-4 on the season.
Graduate student Sarah Schöllgen (Meerbusch, Germany) rallied to take SNHU's lone point at No. 3 singles, posting a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Lara Scholtze, the No. 20-ranked player in the East Region. At No. 1 singles, Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) battled Laure-Anne Josso to a three-set defeat, falling 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-0, while junior Ashley Loft (Leysin, Switzerland) took Charlotte Dawson to three sets before succumbing 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, April 11 when it travels to Concordia (N.Y.) College.
