SNHU Finishes in Top 75 of Directors Cup, Records Best-Ever Finish

LEARFIELD SPORTS DIRECTORS CUP STANDINGS

CLEVELAND – The Southern New Hampshire University athletic department recorded its best-ever finish in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, as the final standings were released recently.  The Penmen recorded a total of 248.00 points to finish 75th overall, with 252 NCAA Division II schools recording points.  SNHU has finished in the top 100 of the Directors' Cup standings each of the past four academic years, finishing 76th in 2013-14.

“Penmen athletics enjoyed another highly successful season in 2014-15, and it is nice to see that success recognized on the national level.  The continued improvement our department has shown in recent years is a reflection of the work put in by our student-athletes and coaches, as well as the tremendous support received from the University” said SNHU Director of Athletics and Recreation Anthony Fallacaro

“I am so proud of our student-athletes, coaches and staff.  The fact that we have achieved our two highest finishes in the last two years re-affirms the changes we have made have taken root and produced very positive results.  You can only do that with an incredible staff that is committed every day to getting better and we are fortunate to have those kinds of professionals working here at SNHU.”

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 NCAA sports – seven women's and seven men's.

Southern New Hampshire had a total of five teams compete in NCAA championships in 2014-15, led by the men's basketball team winning the East Region championship and advancing to the Elite Eight.  The softball team capped its most successful season in program history by advancing to the East Super Regional, while baseball, men's golf and men's soccer also competed in NCAA play.  Sophomore Stacey Wojcik (Wrentham, Mass.) also represented SNHU at the NCAA women's cross country championship in December.
