Graduate student Abla Chadli (Rabat, Morocco) did not drop a game in her No. 1 singles match as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory against Bentley University on Wednesday.
Southern New Hampshire led, 3-0, after doubles as sophomores Kaitlyn Poje (E. Stroudsburg, Pa.) and Sofia Morais (Porto, Portugal) topped Rachel Petrini and Katie Tynan, 8-2, at No. 1, Chadli and sophomore Anna Sala (Matadepera, Spain) eked out an 8-6 win at No. 2 against Hannah Fabianski and Katie Brandow and junior Lindsay Baum (N. Salem, N.Y.) and Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) earned an 8-5 victory against Corrie MacLean and Tiffany Suchanek at No. 3
After Chadli dispatched Petrini, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, Morais defeated Fabianski, 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the match and make it 5-0.
Sala won a marathon at No. 3 singles against Suchanek, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3), while Poje tipped Tynan, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4. Wagner was a 6-1, 6-4 winner against Susan Stowe at No. 5 singles and Baum triumphed over Brandow, 6-3, 6-1, in the No. 6 slot.
Notes:
- Chadli improves to a perfect 10-0 at No. 1 singles this year, while Baum and Wagner are now 10-0 in doubles play.
- Baum has won 18 of 19 Northeast-10 singles matches dating back to last season.
