No Chadli, No Problem: Women's Tennis Cruises to Sweep of American Int'l

Sophomore Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) and junior Lindsay Baum (N. Salem, N.Y.) did not drop a game during singles play as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team breezed past American International College, 9-0, Sunday evening at the YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown, despite being without the services of undefeated No. 1 singles standout Abla Chadli (Rabat, Morocco).

Wagner and Baum were both 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 4 against Logan Smith and No. 5 versus Yliannis Knaggs, respectively. The sizzling duo also remained perfect together in doubles play, easily handling Eleanna Fulop and Smith, 8-2, at No. 2.

Sophomores Sofia Morais (Porto, Portugal) and Kaitlyn Poje (E. Stroudsburg, Pa.) doubled up Carleyah McLean and Isabela Daudt, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Anna Sala (Matadepera, Spain) and junior Sophea Sindorf (Moultonborough, N.H.) blanked Knaggs and Alice Calabrese, 9-0, at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Morais slid into Chadli's regular spot at the top and took down McLean, 6-2, 6-4. Sala was a 6-2, 6-1 victor over Daudt at No. 2 and Poje defeated Fulop, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3. Freshman Abbey Killiam (Rowley, Mass.) was nearly blemish free at No. 6 singles as she toppled Calabrese, 6-0, 6-1.

Notes:
-Killiam's singles win was the first of her career, while the doubles victory was Sindorf's first ever doubles triumph.
- Baum and Wagner are now 11-0 in doubles play.
- Baum has won 18 of 19 Northeast-10 singles matches dating back to last season. 

Up Next:
The Penmen return to action Thursday, Oct. 13 (3 p.m.) when they take on Saint Michael's College. The next and final regular-season home match of the fall for SNHU is Sunday, Oct. 16 (11 a.m.) when they play host to Post University.
