Embry-Riddle University defeated the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team, 9-0, Monday at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
The Eagles swept all three doubles, but not without a fight as freshman Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) and senior Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) held a 5-2 lead at No. 3 doubles before Giovanna Tomiotto and Meena Bennett rallied for the 8-5 win.
Senior Ashley Loft (Leysin, Switzerland) also played tough in her No. 1 singles match against Hui-I Huang as she dropped the first set, 6-3, before evening the match with a 6-3 triumph of her own. Huang then pulled out a 10-4 victory in the third set.
Notes:
- The Penmen have lost three straight – all to tough teams – since beginning the season 11-1.
