Rachel Beam scored in the 95th minute as Pace University snuck past the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team, 1-0, in double overtime Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field.

After 94-plus minutes of scoreless hockey, Pace struck when Halley Rose had the ball poked loose by a Southern New Hampshire defender, but it rolled out of the circle to Rachel Beam, who sent a blast from the left side that beat SNHU goalkeeper Alexis Soucy (Windsor, Maine) into the right side of the cage. The shot appeared to be taken from outside of the circle and also appeared not to be tipped, but officials allowed the goal to stand at the 94:15 mark.

Both teams had their chances in the first half, with shots from freshman Maaike Gerkema (Driebergen, Netherlands) and Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, Netherlands) peppering Pace goalkeeper Lesly Sanchez Alvarez, who turned aside both attempts.

The Setters had a chance to draw first blood with just over two minutes remaining in the half as Rose's drive from the left off a corner headed for the net, but Soucy made a great kick save to keep it scoreless.

The back-and-forth continued in the second half, with Southern New Hampshire controlling the majority of the play, but still, neither team could find the scoreboard.

SNHU's best chance of the extra session came early in the second OT as van der Doorn and sophomore Maddie Holt (Seabrook, N.H.) put quick shots on goal that were saved by Sanchez Alvarez. The second rebound came back out to the left side for van der Doorn, who sent her second attempt with a partially open cage just wide.

Notes:
-Soucy made four saves for the Penmen, while Sanchez Alvarez stopped eight shots.
-SNHU outshot Pace, 15-11, including 5-2 in the second overtime period.
-Penalty corners were even at nine apiece, with the Setters holding a 3-1 advantage in the extra session.
