Junior Lindsay Baum (N. Salem, N.Y.) was victorious in both her matches, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team dropped Saturday's 6-3 decision against Adelphi University on a hot and humid day at the Adelphi Tennis Courts.
Baum was an easy 6-0, 6-0 winner against Maria Bruzon Gutierrez at No. 6 singles and teamed with sophomore Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) for an 8-2 No. 3 doubles win against Bruzon Gutierrez and Vanja Savic.
Trailing 2-1 after doubles, the Penmen pulled even when graduate student Abla Chadli (Rabat, Morocco) recorded a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Elizabeth Kallenberg at No. 1 singles.
Despite Wagner and classmate Kaitlyn Poje (E. Stroudsburg, Pa.) both pushing their singles matches to three sets, Adelphi won at Nos. 3, 4 and 5 to seal the match.
Notes:
-Baum has now won 12 straight Northeast-10 singles matches and 13 of her last 14.

The Penmen return to action Sunday, Sept. 11 (1 p.m.) when they take on Assumption College. The next home match for SNHU is Friday, Sept. 16 (4:30 p.m.) when it plays host to Le Moyne College.
