BOX SCORE

When and Where: September 21, 2016 – Goffstown, N.H. (Grappone Stadium)
Score: Saint Anselm College 2, Southern New Hampshire University 1
Records: SNHU 2-4 (0-2 Northeast-10 Conference), STA 6-1 (2-0 Northeast-10 Conference)

Junior Erin Frost (East Andover, N.H.) tallied her first goal of the season, but a late second-half strike by Erin Collins lifted Saint Anselm College to a 2-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Grappone Stadium on Wednesday.

The two teams battled to a scoreless deadlock through the first 31:36 before Emma Kincaid staked the hosts to a 1-0 lead. Kincaid tipped home a feed from Leika Scott on the doorstep with 3:24 left before intermission to give the Hawks a one-goal edge at the half.

The second half mirrored the first, as neither side was able to crack the scoreboard for over 25 minutes. With just over eight minutes to go in regulation, Frost hammered home a shot from the right side that ricocheted off the keeper and in to knot things up at one aside at 61:51.

Just two and a half minutes later, Collins capitalized off a scramble in front of the Penmen cage to score what proved to be the game winner from Hannah Friend.

Katherine Sears earned the win in goal for Saint Anselm after stopping six of the sevens shots she faced. Sophomore Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) made a pair of saves for Southern New Hampshire, while freshman Alison Hildreth (Hampton, N.H.) registered a pair of defensive saves and classmate Maaike Gerkema (Driebergen, The Netherlands) picked up a DS of her own.

Notes:
- The victory gives the Hawks two points and a 3-0 lead in the 2016-17 Queen City Cup standings. Saint Anselm earned its first point on September 13 in a 3-1 win in volleyball.
- The Hawks outshot the Penmen by a 15-9 margin and held a 10-3 edge in penalty corners.

What's Next:
Southern New Hampshire returns to Larkin Field on Saturday (Sept. 24) for a Northeast-10 clash with American International College (6-1, 2-0 Northeast-10) slated to begin at noon.
