Graduate student Abla Chadli (Rabat, Morocco) did not drop a game in her No. 1 singles match and also picked up a doubles win to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team to Saturday's 7-2 victory against Colby-Sawyer College.
Chadli was a 6-0, 6-0 victor against Ashely Woodside at No. 1 singles and then teamed with sophomore Anna Sala (Matadepera, Spain) for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles against Evelyn Miller and Aislinn O'Connor. Sala downed Maddy Gemerek, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3 singles.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Poje (E. Stroudsburg, Pa.) earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Lauren Blanchard at No. 5 singles, while junior Lindsay Baum (North Salem, N.Y.) made quick work of Christine Hill at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Poje combined with sophomore Sofia Morais (Porto, Portugal) for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles against Woodside and Gemerek, while Baum and sophomore Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) pulled out a 9-7 victory at No. 3 doubles over Blanchard and Hill.
Notes:
-This marked the ninth straight year the Penmen have been victorious in their season opener.
