Junior Anna Sala (Matadepera, Spain) again was victorious in both her matches, but again the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team endured a loss, falling to unbeaten Stonehill College, 7-2, Tuesday afternoon at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts.
Competing without the services of No. 1 singles and doubles player, junior Sofia Morais (Porto, Portugal), as well as No. 5 singles player, junior Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.), Southern New Hampshire was forced to re-shuffle its lineup. SNHU received a big 8-6 win from Sala and freshman Casey Burns (Westbrook, Conn.) at No. 1 doubles against Victoria Barbetta and Isabelle Porter, but trailed, 2-1, entering singles play.
Stonehill won four straight singles points, clinching the match before Sala breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Barbetta at No. 1 singles to make it 6-2. Stonehill capped the match with another win.
