Junior Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) notched yet another double-double to guide the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team to a 73-49 non-conference victory against the University of Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon at the SNHU Fieldhouse.

Lorenzen scored a game-high 17 points (6-13 FG, 5-6 FT), pulled down 10 rebounds and dished a pair of assists. Senior Jennifer Shelp (Apalachin, N.Y) netted a season-high 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 FT) and grabbed five boards, while sophomore Molly Terry (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also dropped in 11 points (5-6 FG, 1-2 3-FG) and collected three rebounds.

Samnell Vonleh paced the Purple Knights with 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Southern New Hampshire scored the first five points of the game, but a 6-0 run by Bridgeport – with the first four points provided by Vonleh – gave it a 6-5 edge just over three minutes in. That would be the visitors' final lead of the opening stanza, but the Penmen would never go in front by more than three in a quarter then ended in a 16-16 tie.

Bridgeport took hold of its final lead of the contest when Kadijah Dickson opened the second quarter with a layup, but a Terry bucket tied it and sparked a 12-2 rush that gave the Penmen a 28-20 lead midway through the stanza. Terry and Shelp each chipped in five during the span for SNHU, which would bring a 34-27 advantage into the break.

Vonleh dropped in a layup to open the second-half scoring and trim the deficit to five, but Southern New Hampshire responded with a 13-2 blitz – with Lorenzen's four points leading five different scorers – to seize a 47-31 lead at the 3:42 mark. SNHU would lead it, 50-35, going to the final frame.

The Penmen would use an 11-2 run to start the fourth quarter – with four points each from Lorenzen and Terry – to take a 61-37 advantage with 5:13 remaining. Back-to-back Dickson treys would halt the run, but SNHU used five different scorers to craft a new 10-3 flurry that gave it the largest lead of the afternoon at 71-46 with just under two minutes to go.

Freshman Gyanna Russell (E. Hampton, Conn.) posted seven points (3-8 FG, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and two steals, with classmate Sarah Deyo (Attleboro, Mass.) registering seven points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3-FG), four boards, three assists and two blocks. Junior Aaliyah Paxton (Hainesport, N.J.) chimed in with five points (2-5 FG, 1-2 FT) and four rebounds, while senior Catherine Stinson (Lynn, Mass.) chipped in five points (2-7 FG, 1-2 3-FG) and three rebounds. Junior Brianna Camara (Fall River, Mass.) tallied four points (2-7 FG), five boards, four assists and three steals.

-Lorenzen's fourth double-double in five games was her sixth of the season and 18th of her career.
-SNHU outshot Bridgeport, 44.9 percent (31-69) to 31.8 percent (21-66), while the Purple Knights were slightly better from beyond the arc, 21.1 percent (4-19) to 17.6 percent (3-17).
-Southern New Hampshire was plus-five at the line and shot it better, 66.7 percent (8-12) to 60 percent (3-5).
-The Penmen owned the glass (48-36) and the paint (50-24), while also turning in a more impressive assist-to-turnover ratio (13/12-7/18), which led to a 19-7 advantage in points off mistakes.
