MANCHESTER, N.H. – For those trying to get their spring games in this season, this is no laughing matter. With Winter Storm Theseus set to slam New England over the early part of the April Fools' weekend, the Southern New Hampshire University Department of Athletics has been forced to move the majority of its Saturday schedule.
First, the good news: the women's lacrosse contest against top-ranked Adelphi University at Larkin Field will take place, as scheduled Saturday, April 1, but will move back 90 minutes to a 2:30 p.m. start.
Men's lacrosse will push their game at the College of Saint Rose back a day to Sunday, April 2 (3:30 p.m.). Men's tennis will follow suit, traveling to take on Assumption College on Sunday (6 p.m.), as will women's track & field, which will now take part in the Tufts Snowflake Invitational on Sunday (10 a.m.).
Baseball has postponed its doubleheader with Saint Anselm College, originally scheduled for Saturday at Penmen Field, with a make-up date(s) to be announced. The Sunday twin bill with the Hawks will still be played, but has moved to Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., with first pitch moving back to 5 p.m.
Finally, softball's three-game set at Bentley University has been completely wiped out for the weekend. The doubleheader scheduled for Saturday will now be played Monday, April 17 (3/5 p.m.), while Sunday's single game will take place Wednesday, April 26 (3 p.m.)
