Women's Tennis Knocked Out of NCAA Tourney with 5-1 Loss to Goldey-Beacom

Junior Lindsay Baum (N. Salem, N.Y.) was victorious at No. 6 singles, but the sixth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team saw its season draw to a close Monday with a 5-1 loss to third-seeded Goldey-Beacom College in an NCAA Tournament first round match at the Queens (N.Y.) College Tennis Center. 

The Penmen fell behind, 3-0, after doubles and dropped their No. 4 singles match before Baum handily defeated Manuela Cornejo, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles to trim their deficit to 4-1.

Sophomore Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) lost her first set to Silvia Hortelano at No. 5 singles, 6-0, before roaring back to tie the match with a 6-1 win. Hortelano then took the third set, 6-3, to clinch the match for Goldey-Beacom. 

Notes:
-SNHU was making its seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament, including its first since 2013.
