Junior Ariana Silvia (Brockton, Mass.) and sophomore Emily Roan (Bridgewater, Mass.) scored second-half goals to lead the 19th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team to 2-1 come-from-behind win at Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday evening at Sodexo Field.
Trailing, 1-0, just 1:10 into the second half, Southern New Hampshire gained the equalizer, as Silvia gathered a feed from senior Trisha Luis (Lowell, Mass.) and sent a shot from the middle of the box past Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Casey Cook and inside the right post to make it 1-1.
The score stayed that way until early in the 78th minute when junior Miranda Peloquin (Greenville, R.I.) delivered a through-ball from midfield to Roan, whose shot from the top of the box found the back of the net to give the Penmen a 2-1 lead.
Franklin Pierce nearly tied it just under three minutes later when Gabi Pereira's shot drilled off the crossbar. Senior goalkeeper Paige Salmon (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) then made her only save of the match in the 88th minute, before Pereira booted a shot wide with under a half-minute to go.
Cook turned aside three shots.
Pereira helped put the Ravens on the board 22:19 into the match, as her free kick from 25 yards out was headed into the goal by Marta Turmo to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
