Freshman Makyla Lewellen (Zanesville, Ohio) shot an 81, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's golf team finished sixth Sunday at the first round of the Northeast-10 Championship at Haverhill Country Club.
Lewellen's round-one score has her tied for seventh heading into Monday's final round.
Junior Kailey Coleman (No. Berwick, Maine) is in 25th, overall, following her 92, while classmate Kaitlyn Lutinski (Derry, N.H.) is just behind in 27th with a 94. Fellow junior Morgan Mitchell (Charlton, Mass.) scored for the first time in a collegiate tournament as she totaled a 95 to place 28th.
Sophomore Brooke Barrett (Bedford, N.H.) did not factor in the team score with a 107.
Notes:
-Franklin Pierce University currently leads the way with a 310, just one stroke better than host Merrimack College.
-Franklin Pierce's Camden Morrison is the current individual leader following her 5-under 67. She leads Merrimack's Krystal Knight by three strokes.
-The Northeast-10 Championship is comprised of 37 golfers from seven institutions.
