Senior Trisha Luis (Lowell, Mass.) scored a penalty kick goal in the 82nd minute to cut the deficit in half, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team fell to 18th-ranked Long Island University-LIU Post, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at the American International College Classic at Abdow Field.

Trailing 2-0 with 8:22 left in regulation, Southern New Hampshire capitalized on a foul call against LIU Post as Luis made good on her penalty kick opportunity, beating Pioneer goalkeeper Hillevi Eklow to make it a one-goal game. The Penmen had another chance just under 30 seconds later when sophomore Shae Roys (Billerica, Mass.) sent a shot on net, but Eklow was up to the task and kept it a one-score contest.

SNHU kept the pressure on, earning a corner kick with just over a minute to play, but LIU Post was able to clear the ball out of danger and hold on for the victory.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Salmon (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) made three saves, while Eklow turned aside 10 shots in the win.

LIU Post drew first blood midway through the ninth minute when Erin O'Connor was credited with a goal after a failed clear attempt by the Penmen. The Pioneers went ahead, 2-0, nearly 12 minutes later as Julia Duffy set up an Andrea Huntzinger goal.
