BOX SCORE

Score: Southern New Hampshire University 8, Saint Thomas Aquinas College 2
Records: SNHU 3-0, STAC 0-3

Senior Amaris Taylor (Tulsa, Okla.), sophomore Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) and freshman Hélène Servais (Brussels, Belgium) each scored twice and the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team remained unbeaten with an 8-2 victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas College at Spartan Field on Monday.

Taylor added an assist to total five points, and senior Erin Frost (East Andover, N.H.) and sophomore Megan Lewis-Taylor (Nashua, N.H.) accounted for the remaining two Southern New Hampshire goals. Junior Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) stopped one of the two shots she faced in the opening 55:03 before freshman Kate Pigsley (Exeter, N.H.) stepped in for the final 14:57.

The game was scoreless through the first 27 minutes before the Penmen erupted for three goals in a span of 90 seconds. Lewis-Taylor fed Frost to stake Southern New Hampshire to a 1-0 lead at 27:48 before Taylor found van der Doorn 52 seconds later to double the advantage. Lewis-Taylor capped the run with 5:42 remaining in the opening half, and the Penmen defense kept the shutout in tact as it did not allow a Spartan shot for the entirety of the first half.

Southern New Hampshire put the game out of reach in the early stages of the second with four-straight goals to build a 7-0 edge. Taylor potted the first two markers at 47:02 and 48:57 before Servais followed suit with a pair of her own. Redshirt sophomore Katelin Oberlander (West Yarmouth, Mass.) set up Servais for her first with 19:19 to play in regulation before junior Lindsey Poirier (South Berwick, Maine) fed the freshman 3:04 later.

After Taylor Hickey put STAC on the board at 54:41, van der Doorn reestablished a seven-goal cushion with 10:15 to play. Alexandra Vippolis provided the final margin of scoring when she pushed one across with less than two minutes remaining.

Notes:
- Southern New Hampshire is off to its best start in program history at 3-0. The Penmen started 2-0 in 2015 before suffering a setback in their third game of the season.

- Lewis-Taylor's goal was her first in a Penmen uniform.
- Southern New Hampshire outshot Saint Thomas Aquinas, 28-4, on Monday which included a 16-0 edge in the first half. 21 of the 28 shots went on frame, while three of the four Spartan attempts in the second half were on cage. The Penmen also held a 20-3 edge in penalty corners.
- SNHU improves to 3-0 against the Spartans dating back to the 2015 season.
