STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • Senior Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) stopped all seven shots she faced in the Penmen cage, including two in overtime, to register her first shutout of the season and ninth of her career.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After holding off an offensive flurry by Stonehill in the 76th minute, Southern New Hampshire was able to force a penalty corner with 3:45 left in the extra session. Sophomore Hélène Servais (Brussels, Belgium) gathered the feed from the end line before sliding a pass over to van der Doorn, who unloaded a blast from the upper left arc of the circle that made its way past Sara Freedman for the game's lone goal.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • The Penmen defense held Skyhawks' senior Kacie Smith, the nation's leading scorer, without a point for just the fourth time in her last 30 games.
  • Stonehill held a slight edge in penalty corners, 8-7, while also maintaining a 17-13 advantage in shots on goal.

  • Saturday's victory marked Southern New Hampshire's first win over a ranked opponent since October 7, 2016 when it topped No. 1 LIU Post, 2-1.
  • van der Doorn's goal was her fourth of the season and No. 19 in her career.
