NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team was chosen to finish sixth in the 2018 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches' poll, which was announced by the league office on Monday. The Penmen totaled 66 points.
Reigning Division II National Finalist Merrimack College finished atop the poll with 119 points after receiving nine of a possible 12 first-place votes. Le Moyne College slotted in second with 112 points and a pair of first-place tallies, while Adelphi University was third after accumulating 99 points and grabbing the final first-place vote. Pace University checked in just behind the Panthers with 94 points, and the Setters were followed by Saint Anselm College (80) and the Penmen.
Southern New Hampshire will return four starters of 10 or more games from its 2017 squad that finished off the season with an overall record of 9-6. Senior Corey Cairo (Shoreham, N.Y.) will be returning for his final season after scoring 33 goals and dishing out 10 assists, which was second on the team a season ago. Sophomore Tyler Mello (Acushnet, Mass.) is also back to anchor the Penmen defense after being named Second Team All-New England in his freshman campaign.
Southern New Hampshire opens its 2018 slate on Saturday, February 24 when it hosts Georgian Court University in the grand opening of Penmen Stadium.
