The Southern New Hampshire University women's golf team opened its spring season Wednesday and is in eighth place after the first round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, hosted by Boston University at Pinehurst No. 8.
Freshman Makyla Lewellen (Zanesville, Ohio) is the low scorer for Southern New Hampshire through 18 holes with a 95.
Sophomore Brooke Barrett (Bedford, N.H.) shot a 97, while junior Kaitlyn Lutinski (Derry, N.H.) carded a 100.
Juniors Morgan Mitchell (Charlton, Mass.) and Kailey Coleman (No. Berwick, Maine) each totaled a 107.
Notes:
-Eastern Kentucky University leads after day one with a 315, which is eight strokes better than Boston University.
-Eastern Kentucky's Ragga Kristinsdottir is the individual leader with a 1-over 73 – three shots better than her teammate, Elsa Moberly.
-The Pinehurst Intercollegiate is comprised of 46 golfers from eight institutions.
