Freshman Gabby Thomas (Johnstown, Ohio) shot a 79 at the opening round of the Northeast-10 Championship on Sunday and the Southern New Hampshire University women's golf team is in fifth place after 18 holes at the Shenendoah Golf Course at Turning Stone.
INDIVIDUAL SCORERS
- Thomas is in seventh place and is seven shots off the pace.
- Sophomore Anna Casagrande (Pelham, Mass.) carded an 83 and is tied for 15th.
- Junior Makyla Lewellen (Zanesville, Ohio) is tied for 22nd with an 85.
- Graduate student Morgan Mitchell (Charlton, Mass.) and sophomore Hannah May (Phoenix, Ariz.) each penciled in an 86, with only one counting toward the team score.
NOTES
- Franklin Pierce University is in the lead with a 306, which is 19 shots better than runner-up Assumption College.
- FPU's Jinnapat Rittawee is the individual leader with an even-par 72 - one stroke ahead of Le Moyne College's Bianca Cruz-Hernandez.
- The Northeast-10 Championship is comprised of 37 golfers from seven institutions.
