Freshman Hannah May (Phoenix, Ariz.) carded a three-over 75 to finish tied for sixth at the opening round of the Battle at Hilton Head, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's golf team slotted in 20^th, overall, Tuesday at Palmetto Dunes Resort.

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS

• May, who fired a 76 in the opening round Monday, bettered her score by one stroke, to finish with a 151.
• Junior Brooke Barrett (Bedford, N.H.) shaved nine shots off her first-round score, carding an 87 to total a 183.
• Senior Morgan Mitchell (Charlton, Mass.), who turned in a 77 Monday, penciled in a 92 in the second round for a 169.
• Sophomore Makyla Lewellen (Zanesville, Ohio) improved on Monday's 98 by four strokes and claimed a 192.

NOTES

• Senior Kailey Coleman (No. Berwick, Maine), who did not factor into the scoring, was also better by five shots with a 98, for a total of 201.
• Florida Institute of Technology finished in first place with a 596, which was 13 shots better than Anderson University.
• Florida Tech's Lucy Eaton was the individual medalist with a 1-over 145 – just one stroke ahead of teammate Lauren Watson.
• The Battle at Hilton Head was comprised of 108 student-athletes from 21 institutions.
